HURGHADA - The Sunrise Garden Place in Hurghada is the place to be for the top of the world and 108 other players in the last World Cup tournament of this year in Hurghada  (Egypt). Ten Belgian players, five Dutch, one Austrian, three Egyptians, two Danes, two Germans and an Australian tomorrow (5th December) at 10.00 will start in the first groups of the preliminaries.
Jef Philipoom was the winner last year in Hurghada in a final against Torbjörn Blomdahl, Daniel Sanchez defeated Eddy Merckx in the edition of 2008. The denouement of the World Cup in Hurghada already for some years decides who is the overall winner and will duel in Antwerp two monthes later with the World champion for the Supercup.
Dick Jaspers is the leader after three tournaments in 2009 and the major contender to be crowned as overall winner. The Dutchman won this year's tournament in Suwon in the final against Filippos Kasidokostas, Kyung-Roul Kim won in Antalya (final against Dick Jaspers) and Frédéric Caudron in Matosinhos in the final against Martin Horn.
Frederic Caudron was the first in the ranking when the World Cup in Hurghada was compiled. He argues, therefore, the field of 128 participants. Alexander Salazar (Colombia), Javier Teran (Ecuador), Ryuuji Umeda (Japan), Sung-Won Choi (Korea), Sameh Sidhom and Ihab El Messery (Egypt), Eddy Leppens (Belgium) and Nikos Polychronopoulos (Greece) received the wildcards for Hurghada. With twelve players from the qualifying rounds, the top twelve and eight wild cards the main tournament will be played on Thursday 9, Friday 10 and Saturday 11 December.
The tournament, on the beautiful coast of the Red Sea, every year attracts many billiards players to combine billiard with a holiday. For example, the Dutch and the Belgians flock to Hurghada.
For the first time the tournament in Egypt will be broadcasted live by Kozoom. Billiard fans and other viewers can watch the matches for free on kozoom.com on the first days. For the last qualifying round and in the main tournament is a Premium pass required. This pass can be obtained on the site of Kozoom and only costs seven euros per month.
