Forthomme and Blomdahl battle for ticket in final

Pedro Piedrabuena advanced for the final match.
NEW YORK - The American Pedro Piedrabuena is the winner of his group and will play the finale in the 2012 Open Verhoeven in New York. His opponent will come out of the match between Torbjörn Blomdahl and Roland Forthomme.
The Belgian is two matchpoints on the lead in this group. He lost only one out of seven matches so far against Miguel Torres. Torbjörn Blomdahl lost his last match against Eddy Leppens. The Belgian performed on a very high level. He defeated his opponent 35-18 in 9 innings (average 3.889).
Pedro Piedrabuena secured his final place in a solid, defensive match against Robinson Morales, which he won 35-32 in 33 innings. The second in the group will be Robinson Morales or Hugo Patino.
Torbjörn Blomdahl and Roland Forthomme face each other in the last round. The Belgian gathered fourteen points out of eight and averaged 1.599, the Swede has twelve out of eight with an average of 1.753.
Eddy Leppens, the star player in the last round, will meet Miguel Torres, but he has just a small chance to reach the final with twelve points and 1.594.
