Four countries in battle for Nordic title

Thomas Andersen, the reigning champion at the Nordic championship

COPENHAGEN - The Danish Billiard Federation is hosting the SIMONIS Nordic championship 3-Cushion in the upcoming weekend. The tournament, over three days, is played by 24 participants from Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark. From Friday the 21st of September to Sunday the 23rd, the Nordic event will be played in Copenhagen, Denmark. The venue place is Grøndal Multicenter/KBK/BNV in Copenhagen.

 
The tournament stsrts with a group phase to 30 points, followed by knock-out matches to 40 points. The Nordic championship is the most important Scandinavian 3-cushion event on the calendar of the season. The reigning champion from 2017 is Thomas Andersen from Denmark. The main contenders this year are all coming from the Danish federation. Dion Nelin, Tonny Carlsen, Jacob Haack-Sørensen, Thomas Andersen and Allan Schrøder are all well established international players. Brian Knudsen, Lars Dunch and Brian Zola Hansen, they will not participate.
 
Sweden is missing both Torbjørn Blomdals and Michael Nilsson. The reigning Swedish champion David Pennør is a possible Swedish winner. He has to perform to his very best against the strong Danes. Nalle Olsson, Peter Lohmander and Bo Gustavsson are other known players representing Sweden. Lars Harald Riber, Espen Hauge and Markus Kotvojs play for Norway, Sauli Solhagen is the best player from Finland.

The president of the Danish Billiard Federation, Flemming Busk Knudsen, is in charge of the opening and the closing ceremony. The vice-president, Michael B. Nielsen, is the tournament director.
 
Denmark is organizing the World championship in three cushion 2019. The tournament will be played in Randers, the hometown of Tonny Carlsen and Thomas Andersen.
