The 48 year old Frans van Kuyk stays cool as always as we talk with him about the run of 27 he made on monday evening in his match against Ronny Brants. ,,I played it in some kind of trance'', he said. ,,It felt like a flow, but after 25 points I got nervous, because the world record of 28 came near by.''
Frans van Kuyk played his tremendous run in the 6th inning of his match, when he had 7 points on the score. ,,It seemed like it was so easy to make the twenty points, like you are in a flow. I coule walk easyly around the table, because the players on the other billiard had stopped when I had 18 points. And then, after 25, I began to fel the pressure. The world record, on the names of Raymond Ceulemans en Junichi Komori, came closer and closer. I made the 27th and the number 28 was not so difficult. But I had to be careful for the kiss and looked forward for some more points. I began to think about thirty points. And then I missed on 27...''
Frans van Kuyk, playing for Biljart Expres in Turnhout, finished his match in thirteen innings (50-11). He shined another time after his high run, two innings later he made a ten.
What is makes it even more remarkable is that Ronny Brants was his opponent. The Belgian last week played against Henk Habraken, who made a run of 25.
