Frédéric Caudron has seeded in the first of two semi finals for the final in the World Cup in Matosinhos. The Belgian won his match against Dick Jaspers, who came back after trailing 2-0, but then lost the control in the deciding set. Dani Sánchez and Jae Ho Cho play for another place in the final.

Dick Jaspers and Frédéric Caudron will be the numbers one and two on the World ranking after this Worldcup. The match between the two had not the level that was expected (1.742 Caudron, 1.705 Jaspers), but had a lot of tension and an exciting development after the 2-0.

,,I had a good start, I felt perfectly in the match, but couldn't go on after 2-0'', Caudron said later. ,,Dick made a good come-back, which was mainly because I gave him too many chances.''

The Belgian won the first two sets 15-13 (7), 15-9 (4), when he finished with a run of eight. Jaspers fought back strongly from a lost position, won the third set 15-10 (9) and the fourth 15-6 (6). The European champion then again was overshadowed by Caudron, who won the World Cup in Matosinhos last year in the final against Martin Horn.

,,I'm satisfied about my tournament'', said Dick Jaspers, who will now prepare for the worldchampionship in Peru. ,,And of course I can win and I can lose against Frédéric, because he's one of the top players in the world. I had a minor focus today, that's why I couldn't grab my chances.''
