French teams for titles in classic games

Pierre Soumange is one of the most successful players in the championship

CHARTRES - The French team of Chartres, last year's winner of the French championship in classic the games in Soissons, defends its title this weekend from Friday 16 to Sunday, May 18th. The championship, with six teams, this time is played in a final round without preliminaries.

The participating teams in this ninth edition of the championship are Chartres, Andernos, Oissel, Ronchin, Soissons and St. Maur. They are divided into two groups of three.

The most successful international players in the Masters are the Swiss Xavier Grétillat, Pierre Soumagne and Brahim Djoubri, each with three European team titles, Austrian Arnim Kahofer, two-time European champion and Alain Remond and Louis Edelin, each with one European title.

The teams and players:

Group A:
Chartres (Willy Gérimont Xavier Grétillat, Jacky Justice).
Oissel (Johann Petit, Arnim Kahofer Mikaël Devogelaere).
Ronchin (Jean-François Florent, Brahim Djoubri, Bernard Villiers).

Group B:
Soissons (Olivier Careaux Pierre Soumagne, Alain Remond)
Andernos (Nicolas Gerassimopoulos, Jérémie Picart, Bernard Baudoin)
Saint-Maur (Fabrice Fougerouse, Louis Edelin, Benois Legros, Maxence Cherpin )

The matches are rapidly completed in three days. The match lengths are: 47/2 to 250 points, 71/2 to 200 and one cushion to 120 points.

The program starts on Friday at 13.00 with Andernos-Saint Maur.
On Sunday at 900 am and 11.00 are the semi-finals.
The final is at 14.00.
