Hagen Goronczy has resigned as DBU president

LUDWIGSHAFEN - The president of the DBU (German billard federation), Hagen Goronczy, has resigned with immediate effect. He has announced his resign by a letter to the federation.

The leaving federation leader, who was chosen some months ago, says he could not fulfil his goals and ambitions. He mentions in his resignation letter briefly a number of tasks, including a restructuring, the situation in Saarland, negotiations with sponsors, the organizational structure of new tournaments and training which were unable to carry out.

A lack of time and too little help from outside are two crucial reasons. Hagen Goronczy determined that he was spending 18 to 22 hours for the DBU, but still it was not enough. ,,The work on my desk is still growing every day.''

,,My profession (billiards center Red Lion in Ludwigshafen and a from January a new area) is under pressure due to my work for the DBU'', assures Goronczy. ,,I thought there would be more involvement from the clubs and that we could make a faster progression. But unfortunately I did not get the impression that help from outside can be expected.''

The outgoing president recommends the following General assembly thinking about full-time employees to lead the federation. ,,With the volunteers, in my opinion, we cannot realize our goals.''

Maybe, says Goronczy, the moment of my resignation is unfavorable. ,,On the other hand, I want to give the assembly the opportunity to look out out for a successor.''

The president writes in his letter: ,,I would like to thank my colleagues (especially Thomas Haas, Dietmar Zenner, Wolfgang Rittmann and William Brandt) for the support they gave me in recent weeks and months. I also appreciate their indefatigable efforts. I also want to thank those who do not belong to the DBU desk and have supported me very much.''

Finally, Hagen Goronczy wishes the German Billiard federation the courage to create new paths in these hard times of survival.
