Glenn Hofman on his way to the World championship with a great match: 2.500 average.

SINT NIKLAAS - His thoughts were in Colombia for a while, not only because Glenn Hoffman's girlfriend Andrea had to return to her country after two months in the Netherlands, but also because of the best match he ever played in his career. The Dutchman was in a sparkling form again, on Tuesday, when he beat Jack Wijnen in the Belgian league (50-18 in 20 innings, 2.500 average). ,,But I played my best match ever in Colombia,'' said Hofman.

,,At the World Games in Cali, in the match for the bronze against Kyung-Roul Kim, I won 40-13 in thirteen innings.'' The Dutch player is living a bit between extremes these weeks: he received the fantastic news that he's allowed to play the World championship in Korea as a substitute this month. But on the other hand that his girlfriend Andrea had to leave the country, because her visa expired. ,,We have to wait when she may return, but for me, these are tough weeks.''

At the billiard table, however, he was on his best: for the second time this year he played a fifty points match in twenty innings, previously he had done it against Eddy Leppens. ,,We are on the second position now with De Witte Molen'', he reacted after the victory of his team against De Ploeg 2: 6-2.

Glenn Hofman plays for his third year in this team from Sint Niklaas. ,,This is a wonderful club, where Benny van Goethem has the controls and where we can play in a great atmosphere.'' Francis Forton and Ad Broeders took the other wins in the Tuesday's match, Ronny Brants was the only player who lost his match against Jerry Hermans.

,,I play much better in Belgium than I do in the Netherlands so far'', assures Hofman. ,,I won two matches out of seven in the Netherlands, played one draw and lost four games with 1.313 overall average. In Belgium I won five out of the seven (Van Kuyk, Leppens, Forthomme, Mottet and Wijnen), played one draw and lost only one match, with 1.600 average.''

Glenn Hoffman leaves for the World championship in Korea on Sunday 23 November, with his father, Jean Paul de Bruijn and JP's girlfriend Anita. The direct flight takes ten hours, when they arrive, the Dutch players have a few days rest. Hofman starts in a group with Dong Koong Kang and Ruben Legazpi.

In the other match in the Belgian league, Op de Meir defeated Biljartvrienden 6-2 on Tuesday. Eddy Leppens showed again his wonderful form with a win over Raimond Burgman (50-33 in 25 innings). Barry van Beers defeated John Tyssens 50-32 in 33 and Ivan Stitschinsky overpowered Puck van Aart 42-13 in 31 innings.
