Grand Prix San Miguel comes to the finals

Huberney Catano, the best in the pre-tournament

LIMA - Many of the South American top players, including the big names from Colombia, are competing at the Grand Prix San Miguel in Peru this weekend. In total, 92 players travelled to Lima after Ramon Rodgriguez and his wife July's call to join the tournament with RAJU Productions as one of the sponsors. The prize money is 20.000 dollars.

The most known Colombians in the tournament were Alexander Salazar, Juan Jose Garcia, Luis Martinez, Carlos M. Villegas, Arley Castrillón, Gabriel Vasquez, Robinson Morales, Harry Pena, Julian Torres, Alejandro Piza, Carlos Campino, Henry Diaz, Andres Lopez and the Pan American's champion Huberney Cataño, who was the best in the pre-tournament with 1.875.

They faced among others players from the home country like Guido Saco, Ramon Rodriguez, Max Aguirre, Oscar Pachas, Javier Serrano and the players who have qualified for the World championship in France and Viersen, Jose Torreblanca, Cristopher Tevez and Cayo Bardales.

The Grand Prix kicked off with 45 Peruvians, 34 Colombians, five Bolivians, four Chileans, three players from Ecuador and Mexico, divided into 23 groups of four players.

The billiards room is in the auditorium of the municipality of San Miguel with a capacity of more than 1500 people. The billiards are from the known Korean brand Min.

The knockout tournament starts today, Saturday, with 32 players. On Sunday at 15.30, South American time, is the final.
