ADANA - Turkey's top player Lütfi Cenet has won a Grand Prix in Adana, Turkey. The tournament was played in the Akademi Billards Salon and organized by Mr. Akif Güvenmez. The 64 players in this Grand Prix started with matches to 35 caroms. The semifinals and finals were played to 40 points. Cenet, who recently has signed a contract with Hanbat cues, defeated Turkish youth player Tolgohan Kiraz in the final 40-20 in 18 innings. Erkan Akdi and Mehmet Gören lost in the semifinals.

The tournament win in Adana, 450 kilometers from Ankara, was for Cenet with 1.842 average a proof for his rising form. ,,I feel very good: on training I make high runs far over ten, almost every day'', he says. ,,I play with a lot of confidence , but in the recent tournaments I met some bad luck.''

The last performances were therefore not so successful: Lütfi was in the World Cup of Peloponnese defeated on two points by Dave Christiani. At the World championships in Antwerp, he faced a surprisingly strong playing Alexander Salazar and then was beaten by Dong Koong Kang in a world class match (40-14 in 7 innings). In the World Cup of Medellin his performance was stopped by Jérémy Bury.

Therefore, the Turk has dropped now to 14th place on the world ranking. For the World Cup Hurghada he's still automatically seeded. ,,I will try my best to be back as soon as possible on top of the ranks.''
