ISTANBUL - The Turkish three cushion championship has been won by Gülsen Degener for the 15th time in a row. Doğukan Çorbacı is the winner at the junior championship. The third and final Grand Prix, counting for the title race, was played in the MAX billiard club of İlhan Aydın, Umut Öntaş, Murat Tüzül and Semih Saygıner. Gülsen Degener won two of three tournaments and beat Ayşegül Fendi 30-23 in the final event. The numbers two and three of the championship are Ayşegül Fendi and Güzin Muyde Karakasli. The final tournament was played with 8 players.
Gülsen Degener: ''This was the most exciting Grand Prix this year, because three players could still take the title. Due to a broken foot, I was not so good in the first Grand Prix in Antlya, which was won by Güzin Muyde Karakasli. She won the final against Ayşegül Fendi. I finished third, but then won the second tournament in Ankarra in the final against Fendi. The victory in this third tournament was decisive for the title. "
The 15-time champion has traveled to the World Cup location in Sharm El Sheikh these days. Gulsen: "The numbers one and two from the championship, I as the champion and Fendi as number two, will play the European championship in Turkey in February and also will go to the World championship in the Netherlands."
Doğukan Çorbacı won the championship for juniors in the final against Mustafa Kılıç 30-25. Third in the final ranking were Batuhan Bilgin and Seymen Özbaş.
