Haci Arap Yaman to superb victory

The Turkish player Haci Arap Yaman, on his best in the CEB Grand Prix in Doetinchem.

OETINCHEM - The Turkish player Haci Arap Yaman (47), world champion in 2008 in Schelle, Belgium, has grown to his best form in the CEB Grand Prix of Doetinchem (the Netherlands). He won the tournament in the final against the Frenchman Jean Reverchon with a 3-0 score in (48/44 55/49, 47/25).

Yamans road to the final was impressive. He beat the Belgian Walter Bax in the 1/8th finals with a 84.03% score, the Spaniard Xavier Fonellosa in the quarter finals with 73.21% and the Belgian Eric Daelman in the semi-finals with 79.29%.

In the final the Turk reigned supremely: he played 73.17% against Reverchon 59.59%. The Frenchman had beaten on his way to the main match successively the Belgian Mark Janssen with 77.56%, his compatriot Kevin Tran in the quarterfinals 3-1 and 77.56% and in the semifinals the German Thomas Ahrens with 72.72%.

The podium was completed by the German Thomas Ahrens and the Belgian Eric Daelman.

Most remarkable was the elimination of Sander Jonen, the world champion, in the eighth finals of the tournament. He was beaten by the Belgian Erik Vervliet: 3-2 in sets.

In the quarter finals Yaman won against Xavier Fonellosa, Ahrens against Erik Vervliet, Reverchon against Kevin Tran and Daelman against Martin van Rhee, the only Dutch player in the tournament at that moment.

Reverchon defeated Arens, 3-1 in the semifinals, Yaman won against Daelman 3-0.

The winner of the tournament earned 1500 euros, the losing finalist 1200 euro.
