Haeng Jik Kim had a flying start in the Agipi Masters

SCHILTIGHEIM - The billiard had no secrets, it looked as if he had played already for days in the Agipi arena. Haeng Jik Kim, the 18-year young Korean player, this afternoon started as a whirlwind in the youth group of the Agipi Masters. The match against the Spaniard Javier Palazón, the number three at the last World Championship in Sluiskil, lasted only nineteen innings. Kim dominated and won 40-21, an average of 2.105, a highest run of nine.

With a small number of Korean supporters in the tribunes, the young world champion played fearless and uninhibited. ,,I really felt nerves’’, he admitted, ,,but I had a bit of luck early in the match and got my rhythm on a moment that Palazón was not able to score high runs.’’

The Korean now is the big favorite to win this group. Javier Palazón has two more days to repair his disappointing start.

The young Frenchman Cédrik Melnytschenko on the other table also had a promising start. Thanks to a flying start, he took an early lead on Eric Tromas, which makes its debut on this platform. Melnytschenko played until halfway above the 1.500 average, then he dropped a little and finished on 1.379. The match lasted 29 innings, Melnytschenko had a 40-19 adventage at the finish.
