HaengJik Kim is the new number one in Korea

YANG GU - The young Korean HaengJik Kim has won a major ranking tournament in Yang Gu and is now the new number one in his country. In the final of the biggest ranking tournament in South Korea the former four times junior world champion defeated Jin-Pyo Hong 40-33 in 32 innings.

HaengJik Kim beat another top player from his country in the semi-finals: Jae Ho Cho, who also is in the top three of the rankings. That semi-final match was won by Kim 40-38 in 26 innings. Jin Pyo Hong came in the finals by a win against Seyung-Jin Lee.

The winner was rewarded by 120 ranking points and climbs to the first position in the rankings. Jung Han Heo was leading, but was eliminated in the early rounds.

The top ten in South Korea before this tournament: 1 Jung-Han Heo, 2 Jae Ho Cho, 3 HaengJik Kim, 4 Yeon-Chi Cho, 5-Choon Bok Lee, 6 Dong-Koong Kang, 7 Hyung-Beon Hwang, 8 Hyung-Gon Kim, 9 Sung-Won Choi, 10 Min Seo Hyun.

In Korean billiards ten ranking tournaments count for the individual championship.

Dong Koong Kang recorded the best match in Yang Gu against Wan Yeon Choi: 40-20 in 11 innings (3.636 average). He was later eliminated by HaengJik Kim.
