CAPPELE AAN DEN IJSSEL - The world turned upside down for a while in the billiard arena of the Grand Prix in Capelle. Dick Jaspers faced Harrie van de Ven in the first sessions of the main tournament. Two Dutch players, both with a strong musical preference for two old, famous rock bands. Dick Jaspers is fan of Emerson Lake & Palmer, Harrie of Uriah Heep. Dick Jaspers, the world champion three cushion, Harrie van de Ven, a sub-top player in the Netherlands.

The battle for the Grand Prix in Capelle started and ended in a sensation. Harrie van de Ven led 22-2 after 9 innings and 34-4 after 11 innings. He then missed a few times and allowed Jaspers to come back to 39-26. The last score: 40-26 and Jaspers missed the break: 40-26 in 19.

Both players qualified in the group as the numbers one and two for the knock-outs on Saturday. Today, Friday, another sixteen players play for eight places in the final rounds.
