Hattrick for Jérémy Bury in French Masters

LES HERBIERS - The Frenchman Jérémy Bury, number ten in the world ranking and vice-world champion, has been crowned three-cushion champion of his country in the Vendee. It was his third French championship in a row, the ninth in total. That brings Bury two titles behind another French champion in three cushion: Richard Bitalis won 11 titles. In the final, Bury was the strongest against Jérôme Barbeillon 40-29 in 31 innings. The victory is important because of the 30 ranking points that keep Bury in the world's top ten.

In the preliminary stage, Bury defeated Alexis Rouaud 40-18 in 26, Frédéric Beghin 40-25 in 32 and Bernard Baudoin 40-26 in 28 with a highest run of 15. On the way to the final, Bury then was the better of Thierry Roxo, 40-5 in 15 and in the semi-final Gwendal Maréchal, 40-35 in 26. The champion also had the best scores this weekend: best overall average, 1.579, best match, 2.667, best run, 15.

Jérôme Barbeillon found his way to the final due to victories over Adrian Tachoire, Jean Reverchon, Thierry Roxo and then against Fréderick Roelants in the quarterfinals and Bernard Baudoin in the semi-finals 40-36 in 37.

The podium was completed by Gwendal Maréchal (
average 1.491), who played the best Masters at the age of 21. And Bernard Baudoin also was on the podium (average 1.152).
