Herman slikker giant killer again

Huub Wilkowski lost his match against Ad Koorevaar, but made the highest run of ten.

VLAARDINGEN - The 61-year-old Herman slikker was already the the revelation of the Masters last year and shows in the Grand Prix in Vlaardingen again that he can be a giant killer in his best days. In the quarterfinals he defeated former Dutch champion Jean Paul de Bruijn with a score that did'nt lie: 50-44 in 30 innings, an average of 1.666 for the retired postman.

That brings him to the semifinals of the tournament, where Dick Jaspers was qualified for by a victory against Jan Arnouts, Ad Koorevaar who won against Huub Wilkowski and Jean van Erp who defeated Jeffrey Jorissen, the young man of the high run of seventeen this afternoon.

Jean van Erp was in an excellent shape this evening: he finished his match of 50 caroms in 25 innings with a highest run of eight. Dick Jaspers needed one inning more against Jan Arnouts. The former owner of a billiard cafe in Etten-Leur lost 50-35 in 26.

Huub Wilkowski made the highest run (10) in this quarter finals against Ad Koorevaar, but nevertheless couldn't win the match. Koorevaar finished on 50-42.

The semifinals will bring two very interesting matches: the two best players of the evening, Dick Jaspers and Jean van Erp meet each other. On the other table Herman Slikker plays against Ad Koorevaar.
