OOSTERHOUT - The Dutch player Glenn Hofman has won a Grand Prix in his country by beating John Tijssens in the final. The Hague player and the rocket man from Brabant played the final of the tournament. Dick Jaspers was missing because he was playing in the bundesliga. The victory went to Hofman 40-22 in 19. Tijssens played his second Grand Prix tournament in ten years. He defeated Jean Paul de Bruijn in the quarterfinals and Raymund Swertz in the semi-finals.

The tournament went up to the showdown that was expected with Raimond Burgman, Barry van Beers and Jeffrey Jorissen as other contenders for a leading role. Jorissen played one of the best matches (40 in 13), Sander Jonen was on his very best with a run of 19. Glenn Hofman was the deserved winner with solid performances in all his matches. He defeated Barry van Beers in the quarterfinals 40-36 in 20 and Raimond Burgman in the semi-finals 40-28 in 20.

John Tijssens stayed away from the Grand Prix tournaments for years but returned for the first time last year. In the same Grand Prix, at Camping De Eekhoorn, he reached the semi-finals. In his younger years, Tijssens won a Grand Prix in Zundert against Arie Weijenburg.

Tijssens, who won the European title three cushion during the BWA era in 1994 when he was on the podium with Andreas Efler and Dion Nelin, has found his motivation again to play individually.
