The Italian winners Aniello, Quarta, Gualemi, Putignano and Lopez

LUGANO - The Italian team was victorious at the World championship 5 pins for national teams in Lugano, Switzerland. The Azzurri defeated the Uruguay team in the final 3-0. The two finalists qualified for the battle for gold by victories over Argentina and Germany.

 
In the final, the Italian Andrea Quarta set the tone by defeating Diego Capote from Uruguay 100-50 and Michelangelo Aniello, who won by a riant score against Alejandro Moran: 100-69. The Italian double Lopez/Gualemi disturbed the South American hopes by beating the Uruguayan double Montes de Oca/Vidal, 100-61.
 
In the semi-finals, the Italians dominated against the Germans Toni Rosenberg, Thomas Hähne and the Berner/Gabel couple. The other semi-final was completely South American. Uruguay defeated Argentina.
