SAINT BREVIN-LES-PINS - The qualifications for the European championship national teams have been completed: Czech Republic, Belgium B, Egypt and Portugal have qualified for the main event, in which twelve teams will compete in four groups.
The strongest group in the final round undoubtedly is the group with the Netherlands, Belgium and Turkey. The Netherlands have a team with Dick Jaspers and Raimond Burgman, Belgium B with Frédéric Caudron and Peter de Backer and Tayfun Tasdemir and Lütfi Cenet will play for Turkey.
Martin Bohac, who plays for the Czech Republic, impressed in the preliminaries with two wins and averages of 1.578 and 1.764. Rene Hendriksen of Switzerland made a run of eleven. Frédéric Caudron started the tournament with a match of 2.000, but then lost in the encounter between Belgium and Sweden against Michael Nilsson: 30-24 with 16 innings. Peter de Backer forced the qualification for the Belgians by a victory against David Pennör.
The group format for the main event is:
1 France, Czech Republic, Belgium A
2 Netherlands, Belgium B, Turkey
3 Germany, Egypt, Denmark
4 Spain, Austria, Portugal.
