Merck: best match and best run of the round

HAARLO - Dick Jaspers got his revenge on fellow St. Willibrordian Frans van Kuyk (50-19 in 19) in the thirteenth round of the eredivisie. His home team of HCR Prinsen won the match against van Kuyk's Eekhoorn 6-2. Best player for the team from Brabant was Kurt Ceulemans with a glorious win over Christan Rudolph: 59-26 in 28. Eddy Merckx was the round's best player after his closing run of 17 against Roland Forthomme (50 - 26 in 16).

The table leader, MCR/De Uitspanning, had as good as a walkover against 't Hartje, when only Frank Martens, good for a burst of quality once in a while, beat Dave Christiani 50-41 in 31. Eddy Leppens (50-39 in 26 against Ad Broeders), Thorsten Frings (in 30 against Schiettecatte) and Sander Jonen (in 42 against Van Cromvoirt) made sure De Uitspanning stayed safe.

Buffalo.nl was en garde when they played hosts to Dallinga.com but the ex-champions could never make a fist. Without Frédéric Caudron, there was not even a consolation win. Glenn Hofman, in the last match, beat Jean Paul de Bruijn 50-43 in 41. Jean van Erp played a remarkable match against Steven van Acker. The Dutch Master, defending his title later this month, had a sluggish start (9 in 11 innings), but then opened up the taps. He ran 8,10 and 5 in the middle of the match and closed with a 5 and a 4 in the last innings (50-10 in 22). Van Acker missed fifteen times in 22 innings, and did not score at all in the last seven innings.

STZ Zundert made a solid start to their match against A1 Biljarts, when they reached 4-0 after wins by Barry van Beers (37 innings) and Raymon Groot ( 54 innings). Eddy Merckx en Raimond Burgman turned the match upside down after the break. Eddy Merckx made a beautiful closing run of seventeen when he beat Forthomme (50-26 in 16). Raimond Burgman ran away from Peter Ceulemans in the eighth inning, when he ran twelve to make it 31-14. The Belgian put up a good fight with a twelve of his own, to go from 41-24 to 41-36, but Burgman stayed cool in the closing innings to give his team a well deserved 4-4.

De Distel played a fault-free home match against Holland Mineraal, with 8-0 as the logical resultn. Jef Philipoom and Peter De Backer set the tone with victories in 32 and 33 innings.
Dick Jaspers cruised over 3.000 average for most of his match against Frans van Kuyk, but used up five innings for the last seven points. Christian Rudolph, in his second appearance for HCR, could not get anything going against Kurt Ceulemans, who produced and defended well.

Post Luchtkanalen climbed out of the relegation zone with a 6-2 win over red lantern carriers VDO. Martin Horn was the best player, when he beat Rudy de Laet in 23 innings.
