Dick Jaspers on his best for some weeks: another 40 in 8 innings

BERLIN - For the third time in three weeks, Dick Jaspers showed his majestic form with a world class match. In the German bundesliga, the Dutchman won his match against Martin Horn 40-13 in 8 innings, 5.000 average again. After his world record in Magdeburg (40 in 4, 10.000 average, three weeks ago), the Dutch star player already recorded a 40 in 8 twice in two weeks. ,,I just feel well, I'm in a great form'', Jaspers sober commented after the exhibition with Horn as the opponent.

Dick Jaspers dashed off the match without a high run: the series was 9-3-6-5-8-3-0-6. The high-level match wasn't enough for his team to gain match points. BC Magdeburg lost the away match against BC International 6-2. With just one double weekend to go, the tension is back in the bundesliga. Bergisch Gladbacher was almost certainly seen as the new champion four points ahead of the competition, but after Saturday's win against GT Buer (5-3), one day later, the leader lost to Bottroper 5-3. On Saturday, Torbjörn Blomdahl's draw against Stefan Galla (40-40 in 30) was just good for his team's win. On Sunday, Christian Rudolph defeated the Swede 40-29 in 21, Peter Ceulemans was beaten by a very strong Francis Forton 40-17 in 18, and only Dustin Jäschke played a draw against Tobias Bouerdick.

BCC Witten, winning two matches against BC München (7-1) and the number last Erlangen (8-0) is only two points behind the leader. Glenn Hoffman won his two matches vs Lütfi Cenet and Andreas Efler in 20 and 25 innings.

In the final, double round, Bergisch Gladbacher travels without Blomdahl to Berlin and Magdeburg for two tough races. BCC Witten has a more easy program with away matches against Bottroper and Buer. Glenn Hofman is replaced by Eddy Leppens for the two last matches, Torbjörn Blomdahl by Pierre Soumagne.

BC Elversberg also took two wins this weekend and climbs to fourth place behind Bergisch Gladbacher (22 points), BCC Witten (20), BC Munich (20 with only one match to go) and Elversberg with 19 points. BC Magdeburg gathered 18 points.

Thorsten Frings was one of the star players this weekend. He defeated Lütfi Cenet 40-19 in 13 innings. His team Krefeld lost 6-2 to BC München. Frédéric Caudron won his two matches for Elversberg in 14 innings vs Jean van Erp (40-25) and in 23 innings on Sunday, when Jef Philipoom, the number two in the team, won in 17 innings.
