Javier Palazón defeated Eddy Merckx in the Spanish festival.

It was a Spanish festival at the end of the afternoon. Daniel Sánchez, as expected, won his match against Alexander Salazar (3-1), Javier Palazón, by surprise, triumphed over Eddy Merckx. And it even may be better for the Spaniards as Ruben Legaspi in the fifth set manages to defeat defending champion Jef Philipoom.

Eddy Merckx won the first set against Palazón, but then had to bow for his opponent in the next three:15-11, 15-13 and 15-4. The young Spaniard, former junior world champion and third at the World championship in Sluiskil this year, showed his great talent. Daniel Sánchez restrained at 0the other billiard Colombian Alexander Salazar 3-1 and averaged 1.470.

Filippos Kasidokostas finished very quickly in his match with the Egyptian Ihab El Messery. The Greek won 3-0 without any problems.

The public now watches the breathtaking climax in the match between Jef Philipoom and Ruben Legazpi. The Belgian won the first two sets (15-11, 15-13), the Spaniard then came into his rhythm and won the next two sets 15-4 and 15-6.
