SLUISKIL - The wonderful point, a cushion first for winning the match, Javier Palazón, decided a delicious match against Marco Zanetti. The audience at the packed tribunes in Sluiskil stood up for a hugh ovation. The young Spaniard, one of the great talents in three cushion, defeated the Italian veteran 3-2. He was very excited after his victory, just like his colleagues, Daniel Sánchez, Semih Sayiner and more of the top player on the tribunes.

The Belgian Eddy Leppens and Adnan Yüksel Turk also played a spectacular match on the other billiard. It seemed to be a walkover for Yüksel, who won the first two sets, but then Leppens came on tour with the cheers of his supporters. The home crowd inspired him to win the next three sets. He finished with an average of 1.372 and a highest run of twelve.
Raimond Burgman signed for the next sensation. The Dutchman, who entered the main tournament with a difference of one carom, defeated the Korean Kyung Roul Kim 3-1. He remained in extremely modest: "The setsystem always brings surprises, sometimes you are lucky, sometimes not.''

Eddy Merckx beat the dangerous outsider Heo Jung Han 3-1 with an average of 1.562.
