Javier Palazón is qualified for the final rounds in Agipi Masters.

Two world titles as a junior, three European titles and a bronze medal last year at the World championship with the big boys of three-cushion. Javier Palazón is on his way to the top and does not intend to let himself stop in this successful serie. In this evening he won his third match in the Agipi Masters after a lost match against Marco Zanetti. Tomorrow, the Spaniard, who will be 23 on February 18, can watch from his chair the denouement in his group. He has qualified himself as the first for the final round in March.

Javier Palazón is not just named the successor of Daniel Sanchez, the current world champion. He has been the reigning champion of Spain, is the first in the ranking of his country and is also the only Spaniard who still remained in the Agipi Masters. Daniel Sánchez as well as Ruben Legazpi have been eliminated in the preliminary rounds.

The young man from Valencia, who has a relationship with Olga Fernandez Corbalan, just seemed to go the same way as his compatriots in Schiltigheim. As in the previous round, when he lost his first match to Haeng Jik Kim, he lost the very important match against Marco Zanetti.

But Palazón is an acclaimed character actor, a fighter who never gives up. He defeated successively Michael Nilsson, Martin Horn and Tayfun Tasdemir, ended the preliminary round with an average of 1.852 and earned 3750 euros in this round.

The final award, tonight, he could also thank to Michael Nilsson. The Swede defeated in an exciting battle Marco Zanetti. Nilsson had at least an amazing good feeling after his poor start in the tournament. ,,Do you know why I won to Zanetti'', he asked later at the bar while he was enjoying a great beer. ,,My wife called me today with a little joke, telling me that she bought a baby car for my son Oliver and that she still needed 250 euros to pay. I promised her that I would pay the car with the money that I won in the match with Zanetti. And I did, so Im very happy with it.''
