The 1-Cushion King; Jean-Paul de Bruijn

The audience in Haarlo witnessed something very special, during the Cubri/Etikon confrontation with De Graafschap Biljarts and The City TT/ Blitz Optiek it was the former World Champion 1-Cushion Jean-Paul de Bruijn who set a new Dutch Record in the National Competition for sure. In his first match against Marco Kivits he finished the match with a 87 Run in two innings. Also Henri Tilleman and Patrick Niessen performed well, they respectively needed three and two innings. So, that meant a 6-0 win for the team with a total of 7 innings for three Individual Champions.

During the second Round that day it looked that the home-playing team (Cubri/Etikon) started to lighten up the firecrackers once more. Henri Tilleman, back in business after his 2 losses last week, made the maximum possible run in his second visit to the table. Patrcik Niessen played a poor match against Micha van Bochem but with 1-Cushion still on the programm that wouldn't influence the teamresult. Jean-Paul de Bruijn looked if he was continuing were he left his previous 87 Run earlier that day, playing wonderful compact  positions he devaluated an also former World Champion 1-Cushion ; Jos Bongers.  Without getting into trouble Jean-Paul de Bruijn showed the audience why 1-Cushion is such a fascinating game; In a stunning game he finished in the very first inning. A really incredible performance , 66.66 Moyenne for the day and a prolonged run of 187 !!! With a third match that day it could have been much more fore sure.

This will probably remind us about two major performances in the past, on the one hand we had the official World Record Highest Run by Francis Connesson (FRA) in 1978 (199 Car., according to witnesses the unevenesses in the billiard table helped him a little bit) and on the other hand the giant prolonged Run of Wolfgang Zenker during the European Championships in Wijchen 1995; he finished the quarterfinal with a 87 Run, followed that up with a 1 inning match during the semis(150 Car), and took off in the Final against Frédéric Caudron with a 54 Run. So, a prolonged run of 291 !!!

Topteam s'Lands Welvaren were pushed back to place four in the ranking, losing both their confrontations with respectively Buiting Staalconstructie and Helmink Woon Techniek. Even the good performance of Frédéric Caudron ( Averaging 20.00 1-Cushion) didn't forecome their unnecessary loss. The maximum possible result at the end of the season for his team will probably be the third place.

The Buiting Staalconstructie youngsters (van Raaij, Workel & Jonker) took home 4 teampoints and are currently ranked third. Especially Roy van Raaij and Koen Workel perform very well in the Baulkline disciplines this season.

YEL had two easy wins and remained at the top of the leaderboard. Raymund Swertz faced an unusual loss in 10 (!) innings but recovered well by winning his second match in 1 inning within 35 minutes.

Next round will be played the 18th of December.
