Jean Paul de Bruijn was not on his best in recent World Cups but shone in Belgium: 50 in 13

OOSTMALLE/SINT NIKLAAS - The Dutch player Jean Paul de Bruijn took revenge for the two bad performances at the World Cups in Guri and La Baule. He faced his countryman John Tijssens, who usually is not an easy victim, in the seventh round of the Belgian team competition. De Bruijn managed to outrun him down with a 50-26 in thirteen innings. His team, De Goede Queue, stood out and won 6-2 versus Biljartvrienden. BC Deurne maintained its position on top by a victory over De Witte Molen 6-2, although Glenn Hoffman was close, at least, to a draw against Torbjörn Blomdahl. Biljart Express climbed to the third place with a win over Op de Meir 6-2.

Jean Paul de Bruijn doesn't manage to shine in World Cups already for long time. That's the reason that he dropped on the world ranking, but in the competitions near to his home, the Dutchman is often able to play on high level, like in the Belgian league this Monday. De Bruijn started with 9, 2 and 3 against Tijssens, followed by two misses, a flawless run of fourteen and a 29-9 score in seven innings. The end of the match also showed high class. De Bruijn made his last 21 points (4, 1, 9, 1, 5, 1) in six innings. And because Jerry Hermans took a simple win against Hans van der Wurf (42-7 in 23), Frédéric Caudron could finish it of for the 6-2 against Raimond Burgman after 42-16 in 16 with a riant 50-30 in 27.

Glenn Hoffman and Torbjörn Blomdahl were in balance for long in De Witte Molen. With a 42-38 lead for Blomdahl on the score board, Hofman broke loose with 1, 5 and 5 ,,I missed my last carom, unfortunately'', said Hofman. The Swede took his last chance and finished with two: 50-49 in 30. In the Deurne team only Jef Philipoom lost his match vs Francis Forton 50-46 in 47.

Biljart Express crossed paths with Op de Meir and took down the team that seemed to be one of the favourites for a top spot. Frans van Kuyk and his team were the better and climbed to the top three. The Dutchman himself played an excellent role. He launched himself against Eddy Leppens with 14 and 6 (20-0), allowed his opponent to return slightly (36-22), but also made it strong at the end with 4 and 3. Barry van Beers was the only winner for Op the Meir beating Martin Spoormans, including 8 and a final run of 12.

BC De Ploeg added a second point to the total by a draw against Mister 100 Lier, where Raymond Ceulemans was the best player (1.448). Peter Ceulemans defeated Therese Klompenhouwer 50-36 in 39. Jack Wijnen (50 in 45) and Eddy Willems (42 in 43) took wins for De Ploeg.

Herentals performed very well, partly thanks to Martin Horn: 6-2 Kortrijk. The German man on a mission left Ronny Brants far behind 50-22 in 21. Richard Bitalis saved the honour for the Kortrijk team: 42-31 vs Leon Smolders in 30 innings.

BC Quality proves itself as one of the strong teams in the middle part. The home defeated Zanzibar 6-2. Eddy Merckx had the better final rush against Roland Forthomme 50-44 in 29. Peter De Backer excelled against Dave Christiani (50-39 in 27). Jeffrey Jorissen was the boss over Kenny Miatton 42-38 in 35.
