HOOGEVEEN - Dutch top favorite Jean Paul de Bruijn has given the first Euro Grand Prix one cushion in Hoogeveen a sublime finish. He won the tournament after a final against Xavier Gretillat in which he scored three decisive runs (120-19 in three innings).

With his opening run of 41, the technician made the first gap with his Swiss opponent, who couldn't hang on. He answered with eight and then his opponent gave it another go with 42 for: 83-8 at the break.

Gretillat, who finished two previous matches in three innings himself, was severely punished when De Bruijn showed his willpower and potential at the end with a final rush of 37. The Swiss closed with 11 caroms in the equalizer: 120-19 for a final score in three innings.

The first Grand Prix, organized by the famous Hoogeveense Biljartclub, was a great success. Jean Paul de Bruijn thanked the organization led by Klaas Wemmenhove on behalf of the players and would like the CEB (European Billard ) to organize more of these tournaments in the future.

Bennie Deegens, vice-president of the CEB, also started by complimenting the Hoogeveense billiard club, which has been already a great organizer of many tournaments in the past.

Klaas Wemmenhove himself said: ,,We are very pleased with the great audience for a tournament in a classic discipline.''
