Jean van Erp, star of the bundesliga with two great wins.

DUISBURG - The Dutch player Jean van Erp has played a great weekend in the bundesliga. He was crowned as best player over two rounds in the league with two matches of 50 caroms in 24 innings. On Saturday he defeated in a home for his team (Sterkrade) Won Kang 50-35, on Sunday the Dutchman walked over Johann Schirmbrand 50-27.

,,I had a very good feeling about my performance'', Van Erp said after the double in Germany. ,,These wins confirms my good form this year, for also in Belgium I play high averages every week.''

Jean van Erp must admit that he misses the Dutch league this year, although he was an opponent of the play-off system like his teammates in the team of Van Donge en De Roo. ,,I like to play billiards as much as I can and moreover I like to play in my own country'', says the man who won two Grand Prix tournaments in Holland this year.

The German league has three leaders after eight rounds. BC Horster Eck, the champion team, gathered ten points. BCC Witten (with Eddy Leppens) and CRV Neustadt (with Michael Lohse) have the same score.

The most remarkable results of the weekend were the victory of Frédéric Caudron against Henk Habraken (50-15 in 28), Torbjörn Blomdahl against Eddy Merckx (50-43 in 30) and Eddy Leppens against Dieter Grossjung (50-32 in 24).

Christian Rudolph surprised his opponent Martin Horn in a German bump with a close finish (50-49 in 30). Dick Jaspers defeated Michael Lohse 50-33 in 36 innings.
