Jérémy Bury, last year's winner, will not come to South Korea because of health problems

CHEONGJU CITY - The Frenchman Jérémy Bury has cancelled his participation at the World Cup in Cheongju City due to health problems. The winner of the World Cup in South Korea last year is the number eight of the current world ranking. He sent a medical statement to Mr. Farouk Barki, making clear that he will not travel to South Korea. The cancellation of one of the 14 seeded players means that on the final day of the qualifications, Thursday, four instead of three runner-up players will come to the main tournament draw.

The World Cup in Cheongju City started with five Korean players at the top of the ranking. Kyung-Nam Ko was the best with four match points and 1.818 followed by Jun Hyuk Im with 1.714 and Young Won Kim with 1.428. Twelve Koreans finished in the top 16, accompanied by two Vietnamese, one Colombian and one Japanese.

The five Europeans on the opening day, three Spaniards, a German and a Belgian, are at the bottom of the day ranking. Two runners-up in the ranking, Hee Eung Moon and Jung-Min Park, may return for the next round, partly because Dutchman Dave Christiani has cancelled.

The best match winners on the opening day were Young Won Kim in 13 (2.307), Kyung-Nam Ko in 15 and Jun Hyuk Im in 16 innings.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, in the next session, well-known players enter the arena like Carlos Campino (Colombia), Murat Celik (Turkey), Gülsen Degener (Turkey), Bernard Baudoin (France), Gungor Bastunali (Turkey), Tolgahan Kiraz (Turkey) , Namiko Hayashi (Japan), Yusuke Mori (Japan) and Tae Soo Lim.
