Julian Morales beats Dani Sánchez in Bogota

BOGOTA - The most contenders for victory in the Grand Prix Intercontinental in Bogota have qualified for the eighth finals of the tournament. The main surprise was the elimination of Dani Sánchez by Julian Morales in the sixteenth finals.

The Colombian beat the triple world champion from Spain 2-1 in a thrilling battle (averages 1.486 for Morales, 1.476 for Sanchez). Robinson Morales also couldn't qualify for the last eight of the tournament, he was eliminated by Andres Lizarazo 2-0.

Pedro A. Gonzalez (1.765, run of ten), Semih Sayginer (2-0 and 1.815 against Eleazar Ramirez), Julian Morales, Daniel Morales (run of twelve) and Tayfun Tasdemir were the stars in that round. Eddy Leppens needed a tough fight for the win, but beat Julian Torres 2-1.

Semih Sayginer and Pedro Gonzalez shone in the eighth finals as well with the highest averages. Pedro Gonzalez switchef off Robinson Morales 2-0 and averaged 1.739. Semih Sayginer excelled in his match against Alejandro Piza (2-0, 1.803).

Eddy Leppens defeated Henry Diaz 2-1 (1.349) and shared himself among the best eight. Miguel Romero beat Luis Martinez, Alexander Salazar defeated Carlos Campino (2-0), Julian Morales continued his winning streak with a win against Jose Garcia (2-0, 1.367 ), Jaime Montoya surprised against one of the favorites, Heriberto Aristazabal (2-1) and Tayfun Tasdemir goes on in the tournament with a win against Daniel Morales (1.282).
