Kasidokostas makes sensational start beating Jaspers

ANDERNOS - The debut of Filippos Kasidokostas in the French competition was sensational. The 26 year old World champion, leader in the team of Kozoom, beat Dick Jaspers in the match between Kozoom and Clichy-Montmartre, that was played one week before the official start of the competition. The team result was 4-4. Eddy Merckx and Jean Reverchon collected the points for Clichy, Filippos Kasidokostas and Pierre-Jean Lacaze for Kozoom.

The match between Dick Jaspers and Filippos Kasidokostas, two serious candidates for the World title this mounth in Sluiskil, was the highlight of the evening in Andernos-les-Bains. The Greek had a promising start with a few runs, took an adventage on his opponent and did'nt permit Jaspers to come back in the match. The end came with a score of 50-38 in 30 innings, an average of 1.667 for Kasidokostas, 1.267 for Jaspers.

The world champion from Lausanne last year gave his team a boost in this first match. Pierre-Jean Lacaze also had an important input in the success of his team, beating Richard Bitalis 50-44 in 51 innings.

Eddy Merckx and Jean Reverchon rescued the draw for Clichy-Montmartre. Reverchon played a good match against Bernard Baudoin 50-38 in 39 innings, Eddy Merckx left his opponent Frédéric Mottet far behind with a score of 50-25 in 33 innings.
