ANDERNOS - The tension was saved untill the last moments, but eventually the Kozoom team qualified for the semi finals of the French championship for teams by a 6-2 win against Albert. Gravelines and Albert were outplayed for the playoffs. Kozoom passed Gravelines on the ranks in match points.
The French title holder Agipi won the last match of the regular competition 6-2 against Andernos. Dick Jaspers defeated Frédéric Caudron 50-44 in 25 innings, the other matches were won by Agipi.
Kozoom took a 4-0 lead before the break in the decisive match against Albert. Peter de Backer shone in an excellent match against Kurt Ceulemans 50-32 (19 turns) and Marc Boingneres did a very good job for his team beating Olivier Jonard (50-36 in 31).
Therefor Kozoom only needed one more win after the break. Frédéric Mottet took the points in the important match against Cédric Melnytschenko (50-28 in 31). Peter Ceulemans fought for the last chances of his team and defeated Roland Forthomme 50-38 in 26 innings.
Kozoom finished as fourth in the rank and qualified for the semifinals of the playoffs. The Agipi team is the opponent for Kozoom. The other semifinal is the match between Andernos and Laxou.
Agipi remained unbeaten beating Andernos in his own arena tonight. Dick Jaspers took the only win for the Andernos team in the match against Caudron, in which he first lead 31-20 after fifteen innings. The Belgian then came back into the match in his well known fast playing style (32-32), including a brilliant bankshot fifteen points before the finish. But Jaspers took the match 50-44 in 25 innings.
Jérémy Bury was the best man of the evening with a comfortable win against Jérôme Barbeillon in 17 innings (50-25, averaging 2.941). Jean-Christoph Roux defeated Francis Connesson with the same score, in 33 innings. Marco Zanetti showed again his great value for the team with a win against Filipos Kasidokostas (50-42 in 25 innings).
