Eddy Leppens played a stunning match in his warm up for Hurghada

PARIS - The champion team CetSi Morangis has reached the maximum score on the second day of the French competition in the match against Saint Maur (8-0). The team played a magnificent average (1.754) thanks to its Belgians Eddy Leppens and Eddy Merckx. Albert won the other duel in the group against Villeneuve d'Ascq 6-2. Eddy Leppens and Eddy Merckx were the undisputed stars of this match day in Group A. Leppens attacked in his match against Jean-Christophe Roux with runs of 7, 5 and 6. Roux could follow the frenetic pace of his opponent, but was ultimately defeated 50-39 in 17 innings (2.941, Leppens, 2.294, Roux).

Eddy Merckx started also with a 'big bang' in the second session against Jérémy Bury. The Belgian scored 32 points in eleven innings and took a big margin. Bury came back slightly, incuding a run of 9, but had to allow Merckx a comfortable 50-30 in 20.

The champion team also was stronger in the other two matches with Richard Bitalis beating Thierry Roxo (50-29 in 33) and Jean Reverchon against Louis Edelin (50-42 in 44).

Albert won the home match against Villeneuve d'Ascq thanks to Peter Ceulemans (50-34 in 33 against Frédéric Beghin), Cédric Melnytschenko (in 49 innings) and Xavier Le Roy (in 43). Kurt Ceulemans was close to the 8-0 win for his team, but lost 50-49 (33) to George Demos.

The third day in this group will be played on 21 and 24th of January.
