HATAY - In the southern Turkish city of Hatay, that borders the Mediterranean, Lütfi Cenet was the best in a Grand Prix tournament. In the final Cenet defeated Murat Naci Coklu 40-39. The winner finished with 1.834 general average.
The tournament started with one hundred Turkish players, including almost all the major players. The victory was rewarded by 3.000 Turkish lira, the runner-up received 2.000 lira.
Cenet qualified for the finals by a victory over Mahmut Ozdemir, Murat Naci Coklu beat Adnan Yüksel.
Tayfun Tasdemir was eliminated 40-39 in the quarterfinals by Mahmut Ozdemir, who made a surprisingly strong impression. Can Capak, another contender, lost in that session against Birol Uymaz, who was eliminated by Adnan Yüksel.
