CANICATTI - The Italian three cushion championship, played according to the World Cups system, was won by Marco Zanetti for the 27th time. The 56-year-old champion took his eleventh title in a row in Canicatti, Sicily. In the final, Zanetti defeated the young talent Alessio d'Agata, who won the title under 21.

The championship was played with 114 participants in total. The 32 finalists in the individual tournament played in eight groups of four players for sixteen places in the knockout. The preliminaries were played with groups of three players.

The Italian championship was played for the 45th time, now in three disciplines: individual, under 21 and by teams. The Italian federation has invested a lot in recent years in young players with Marco Zanetti as mentor and Alessio D'Agata as one of the students.

The Italian title for teams with two, played in Scotch Double, was won by Salvatore Papa and Alfio Basile.
