Martinez and Hofman finalists in Athens

ATHENS - David Martinez from Spain and Glenn Hofman from the Netherlands will play the final of the European championships for juniors this afternoon in Athens. The tournament gets with those two players the dreamed final with the two most internationally chastened players.

David Martinez reached the final this morning by defeating Dustin Jäschke (3-1), Glenn Hofmann defeated Ölmer Kurakurt 3-1 too. Martinez took the highest average in the semis (1.261), Hoffman did not much less (1.195).

The German Jäschke won the first set against Martinez (15-8 in 12), then had to admit two sets (15-8 and 15-13 in 10 and 16), in the final set he didn't have any chance (15-1 in 5).

Hofman also lost only one set, after he had won the first 15-5 (12). Kurakurt came back with 15-10 in 11 innings to 1-1, but then Hofman showed his high class winning the two last sets 15 -11 (15) and 15-7 (8).

The two finalist already has a palmares at the European level. Glenn Hofmann is the former European champion, David Martinez the current champion of Europe.
