Jeffrey Jorissen and Jean van Erp, winners on Saturday night, facing each other in the semi-finals today

BERLICUM - At the Dutch three cushion championship, this Sunday, are three Brabant players, Dick Jaspers, Jean van Erp and Barry van Beers and one player from the champions team The Hague, Jeffrey Jorissen. Dick Jaspers, the title holder, chasing his 20th Dutch title, is the main contender. The final day is starting with a foreplay in the semi-finals between Dick Jaspers and Barry van Beers in the first semi-final (10:30), followed by Jean van Erp facing Jeffrey Jorissen in the second session (12:30). On Saturday night, the home crowd cheered for their local hero Jean van Erp, who beat his team mate Glenn Hofman 40-32 in 20 innings.

Barry van Beers was the best man in the round in which Dick Jaspers was the better of Raymund Swertz. Van Beers defeated Dave Christiani 40-34 in 18 innings, Dick Jaspers, after a slow start (18 in 23 after 6 misses in a row), found his rhythm with a 13-run and won 40-24 in 28.

Jean van Erp has to beat two of his team mates to reach the final. The Hague superpower was with three players in the last eight and only missed Raimond Burgman in the final phase. Jeffrey Jorissen confirms the progress he has made this year in these Masters by joining the last four. On Saturday night he stopped Kay de Zwart, who apparently had fired his guns in the preliminaries. Jorissen was the boss in the quarterfinals against De Zwart, 40-28 in 28 innings.

The group stage was closed at the start of Saturday night with Dick Jaspers as the leader of eight players for the quarter finals. The world champion and titleholder won his three matches with 2.400 of average and three runs over ten for the premium of 100 euros: two of 11, one of 10.

Group A:
Jean van Erp played a draw in his last, moderate match against Raimond Burgman (40-40 in 37). And because Barry van Beers easily won his match against Wil Janssen (40-16 in 20), Van Beers finished second ahead of Burgman.

Group B:
Dick Jaspers finished his preliminary round with a victory over Frans van Schaik in 16 innings with runs of 10 and 11. The other match was important for the second position: Jeffrey Jorissen beat Martien van der Spoel and averaged 1.469 over three matches.

Group C:
Glenn Hofman, who started by a loss against Kay de Zwart, recovered in his next matches and did what was expected. In his last against Roland Uijtdewillegen, Hofman qualified with 40-16 in 20. It was his best match in the group, which meant a 1.493 over three matches. Kay de Zwart won his three matches with 1.276 average.

Group D:
The decisive match between Dave Christiani and Therese Klompenhouwer ended in a thrilling finish. Christiani was the first to finish, Therese came close in the final with a run of six, but stumbled at one point. The final score was 40-39 in 36.

The tournament average of the sixteen players after the group matches was 1.245.
