Frédéric Caudron and Dick Jaspers before the last session of the day.

MARXUQUERA - Thirteen points was the difference between Frédéric Caudron and Dick Jaspers after both players had been at the table for ninety innings. The gap was negligible and moreover surprising after Caudron's big lead on day one. Jaspers seemed to be on his way towards a glorious comeback, but at the end of the third session there was another slump.

The Belgian cracked his opponent for a while and attacked with runs of ten and seven. He ran to the finish with a 242-209 score, a margin of 33 caroms. The gap was about the same as after the third session, in which Jaspers fought himself back into the matc.

His first run of ten so far, in the 90th inning, brought the margin even to thirteen points (180-167), but at 206-186, sixteen innings later, Caudron used the turbo to flaunt with a better finish than his opponent.
