Mazin Shooni beats Gilbert Najm in Louisville

The ten finalists in Louisville with left under the winner Mazin Shooni.
LOUISVILLE - A strong field of thirty players from all around in the United States played a tournament in the qualifying rounds for the national championship three-cushion in the historic Pendennis Club in downtown Louisville. The final of the championship will be held in the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas from May 6 to 10.
The opening of the tournament was graced by a performance of the Trick Shot champion Tom Rossman, also known as Dr. Cue. The preliminary rounds were played for two first places, aiming two tickets to give a chance for the two final groups of five.
After the preselection, with amongst others strong performances by Mazin Shooni, Brian Haff and Gilbert Najm, the group of ten players for the final was completed. Mazin Shooni played an exciting game against Dan Kolacz, which ended 25-24. Shooni won all four his matches and seeded for the finals before Dan Kohacz and James Stoner.
In the other final group Gilbert Najm dominated, however there was some opposition by Jim Shovak, Jim Bishop and Brian Haff. Shovak finished second: he scored 91 points in his four matches. Shovak and Shooni made the highest run of eight in this group.
Mazin Shooni grabbed the cup and the main prize by beating Gilbert Najm in the final 25-19.
