Merckx and Horn top finishers in France

ARCACHON - The French championship in the top league for teams finished last week with a victory for CetSi Morangis, the team that participated for the first time in the championship. Andernos, the defending champion, finished second ahead of Laxou and Saint-Maur. These four teams show up in the top league together with Albert and Gravelines next season.

Two teams, Kozoom and Colmar, relegated to the second division and will be replaced by Rouen and Villeneuve d'Ascq.

Eddy Merckx took the most points for CetSi Morangis (87.50%), second was Jean Reverchon (75%), then Richard Bitalis (62.50%) and Eddy Leppens (37.50%).

In the Andernos team Roland Forthomme took 87.50%, Francis Connesson 75%, Jérôme Barbeillon 62.50% and Filippos Kasidokostas 14%.

Torbjörn Blomdahl and Martin Horn (87.50%) lost only once match out of eight games. Pierre Soumagne took 50%.

Louis Edelin was very successful for Saint-Maur (75%), Thierry Roxo and Jérémy Bury finished on 50%, Jean-Christophe Roux 37.50%.

Peter Ceulemans and Cédric Melnytschenko were the most successful for Albert with 50%, Gilles Stopin ended 83%, Martin Spoormans 50%.

The Kozoom team was led by Frédéric Mottet with 83% and Marc Boingnères 58%. Bernard Baudoin finished at 17%, Peter De Backer couldn't win a match (0%).

In the Colmar team Frédéric Caudron scored 50%, Jerôme Riotto 33% and Andreas Efler/Dany Boutet (17%). Adrien Tachoire could not win (0%).

Martin Horn took the best overall average of all 32 players (1.985), one thousandth more than Eddy Merckx at the number one position 1.984. Horn lost one match out of eight against Forthomme.

Eddy Merckx and Torbjörn Blomdahl are on top of the numbers one in the teams (7 wins in 8). Peter Ceulemans played an outstanding average. Filippos Kasidokostas and Peter De Backer had a tough year with Andernos and Kozoom.
