Michael Nilsson, with three victories the best player in his group

SCHILTIGHEIM - The 39-year-old Swede Michael Nilsson on Monday starts a new job in his country, but rather he would have been a professional billiard player. ,,I need money to take care for my family’’, he said this afternoon, after he had defeated Vietnamese Duong Anh Vu and had reached the next round of the Agipi Masters. Tayfun Tasdemir from Turkey will accompany him to the final qualifying session. He defeated the Belgian Jef Philipoom, who without a win leaves for home.

Michael Nilsson with three victories was the best man in his group. Tayfun Tasdemir had a bad start, losing to the Swede, but recovered with victories against the two other players. The Turk shined against Duong Anh Vu (2.175 average), more than in his last match against Jef Philipoom, which was only important to win. Jef Philipoom could’n treaten Tasdemir, despite a run of nine (50-31 in 29 innings).

"I was not in a bad shape when I came here’’', declared Philipoom. ,,But I did’nt feel the table, I even could’nt make high runs.’’

The Vietnamese Anh Vu Duong rose above himselve just once, against Jef Philipoom, but the in the other two matches he showed not any confidence.

With Nilsson and Tasdemir the two luminaries are qualified for the next round. Michael Nilsson surprised everyone in the arena, but especially himself. ,,I am normally not such a strong finisher, but here I played as if there was no pressure’’, he said. The Swede earned in this round of qualification 2050 euro’s with his three victories and the runs of twelve and eleven. ,,This is the first time in my career that make such a lot of money with billiards in three days’’, he laughed.
