Michael Nilsson won the tournament after a marathon performance on the last day.

MALMÖ - Michael Nilsson has won in Malmö the Gabriel's Cup, a tournament that is played on handicap and was held for the sixth time. The multiple world champion with the Swedish team did a great performance by winning a marathon of matches during one day. The first prize was 10.000 Swedish crowns (1.090 euros).

The tournament was played with 44 participants, from whom Brian Knudsen with 1.463 and Michael Nilsson with 1.448 played the highest averages. Knudsen missed the qualification for the last eight, because he was eliminated due to the handicap by one of the lesser players. Michael Nilsson finished with fourteen match points before Bo Gustavsson, Henryk Kalita and Bo Svensson. David Pennör, the champion two years ago, was fifth in the ranking.

The previous five editions of the Gabriel's Cup, formerly a combination between the organizers BK 2004 in Denmark and Malmö Carambole Club, were won by Danish Steen Pedersen, Swedish Bo Svensson, Swedish Anders Kall, Swedish David Pennör and the Colombian Swede Qouc Tay.

The organization was on behalf of the Malmö club now in the hands of the competition leaders Torsten Svendsen and Stefan Hilvin.
