Myung-Woo Cho wins the cup in Korea

SEOUL - Two of the main Korean billiard talents faced each other in the final of the Supercup three cushion in Seoul this Sunday. 21-year-old Myung-Woo Cho defeated 27-year-old HaengJik Kim 40-21 in 18 innings. It was the second time that the Supercup was played in the main billiard country in the world. The first winner was the unknown Keon Huyee Cho, who was 68th on the Korean ranking.

Myung-Woo Cho made his breakthrough with victories at the junior World championship in 2016 and 2018. HaengJik Kim was four times junior World champion, took two World Cups in 2017 and was Asian champion. The final match in the Supercup went up and down until 19-17 in 12 innings, then Myung-Woo Cho started his attack with a run of 12 (29-19 in 13). In the final part, the small Korean crowned his race to victory. The other players in the final phase with eight were Jung-Han Heo, Jae-Ho Cho, Choong-Bok Lee, Dong-Ryong Kim, Seoungha Yun and Jun-tae Kim.

The tournament at the Olympic Hall of the Olympic Park hotel in Korea was preceded by preliminary rounds with 138 players, 32 of whom went to the main tournament. The ladies also played for the Supercup, which was won by 26-year-old Cambodian born Sruong Pheavy in the final against 25-year-old Hyunji Yong (25 in 16 innings). In the semi-finals, 13-year-old Bora Jung and 17-year-old Mina Kim were eliminated.

The men's winner, Myung-Woo Cho, earned 37.500 euros, HaengJik Kim 15.000 euros, the semi-finalists 7.500 euros.
