3-Cushion
THE HAGUE/NISTELRODE - The Dutch league in three cushion will be enriched by a new top team next season. The sponsor name is SIS (Cleaning & Restoration BV, founded in 1995), the team players will be Glenn Hofman, Raimond Burgman, Jean van Erp, Jeffrey Jorissen and Herman van Daalen. The playing venue is Biljartcafé Jorissen in The Hague, where the reigning champion Buffalo.nl is playing its home matches now. The new sponsor has also been negotiating with Dick Jaspers, but the transfer did not take place.
Sponsor Carl Verhoeven (55), who lives in the same street of Jean van Erp, his company is in Nistelrode, is no stranger in the billiard sport. In earlier years, he was the sub-sponsor of the Van Wanrooy team with Blomdahl, Sánchez and Sayginer. For several years he was one of the sponsors of the Buffalo team and furthermore he was with belonged to the sponsor group of the Masters with his company. This year he is also sponsor of the Crazy Billiards tournament of Dick Jaspers.
The company, with fourteen people, is particularly known for fire- and water damage and cleaning in laboratories and hospitals in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.
Carl Verhoeven: ,,I have big plans with the new team for years to come. The contract is for three years. The idea is that we get a whole new clothing line and we want to give much publicity to the project. For me it's the first time that I sponsor a team on the highest level. That's always been a dream. The idea is actually materialized after a conversation with Raimond Burgman during the Masters.''
We should certainly join the top two or three, says the Dutchman. ,, The budget of the team will be much higher than of the previous team. Dick Jaspers could have been a good leader, obviously, but we didn't come to an agreement.''
Raimond Burgman, now player of Eureka Billard, is looking forward to his new challenge. ,,I am happy with this new chapter in my career'', says the former Dutch Master, who played for Hengelo, Cristal Kelly, A1 Biljart and this year Eureka Billard. ,,In thirty years not too many teams. With this team I am very happy. I know the players, the location, it's for me a fresh start and my expectations are high.''
Jean van Erp heard the news this afternoon ,,I was called by Cor Trampe, our team leader, but until then, I knew nothing.''
Cor Trampe: ,, We have been talking to Buffalo.nl, our current sponsor. The offer that we got now, has changed things. I do hope that Buffalo remains as one of our sponsors.''
According to Trampe, Glenn Hoffman will be the number one player in the team, Raimond Burgman and Jean van Erp at two and three and Jeffrey Jorissen at four. ,,Herman van Daalen remains with the team, so occasionally we'll rotate the line-up.''
