New tournament launched: World Team Trophy

ROISSY/PARIS - The WCBS (World Confederation of Billiards Spors) and the UMB (World federation of billiards) have launched a new tournament on their website today. Meant as a promotion towards the Olympic Games canditure in 2024, a meeting between carom, pool and snooker players from all over the world.

The date: 11 and 12 March in Roissy, France.

The participating teams: France team, Europe team, Asia team and Rest of the World team

The official announcement:

,,Following a most successful official campaign launch at the Eiffel Tower on 30th November 2018, the WCBS, FFB (French Billiard Federation) and Billard 2024 will co-host a team event in Roissy, near Paris called 'World Team Trophy'. This event will showcase our three disciplines with each team being composed by 1 snooker player, 1 pool player and 1 carom player (3 cushion). This presentation is a demonstration tournament, formulated to support a new format for the IOC to accept Billiards as an additional Sport for inclusion into the programme of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

The selection of the players was the responsibility of WCBS members: Carom (UMB), Pool (WPA) and Snooker (IBSF with WPBSA). For Carom discipline, UMB has left the choice to Confederations (Europe and Asia)

For Europe, CEB Board has taken into consideration the CEB ranking in December 2018 because there was no European championship in 2018; so for Men: Frédéric Caudron and for women Gulsen Degener.
