Nikos Polychronopoulos kept control over his chances in a great match against Melnytschenko.

The Greek Nikos Polychronopoulos is a player in the three cushion circuit who likes the discussion and always is thinking and worrying about the future of his sport. The system of the UMB, the status of the top players, the tournaments of the World Cup, the World championship: he always has his own opinion. The discussions usually can last until after midnight, last evening he searched his room very early with his wife.

He knew how important a good night's sleep would be after his lost match on Saturday against Lütfi Cenet. This morning the Greek appeared at ten for the match against Cédric Melnytschenko. The start was amazing: runs of twelve and eleven in the first seven innings, 35-4 at the break and 45 caroms in fifteen.

The end of the game came in the 20th inning after a slight hesitation after the break and in the last innings. Melnytschenko crawled back by a run of eight and finished 1.400 on average.

Lütfi Cenet never was threatened in his match against Pierre Soumagne. The Turk played less impressive than in his firstmatch, but scored frequently enough to decide the match in his favor by scores of 10-0, 27-13, 40-18 and finally 50-31 in 30 innings.
