Nikos Polychronopoulos prolongs title in Greece

Nicos Polychronopoulos receives the trophy of Greek champion

ATHENS - Nikos Polychronopoulos has prolonged his title as the Greek champion in three cushion. In the Trisponto club in Athens, not far from the Acropolis, 28 finalists played for the championship, which was divided in two tournaments. Both in the first tournament and in the second in Trisponto club the reigning Greek champions was the best. In the final was Kostas Kokkoris his opponent. The champion was by far the strongest and won 40-20 in 19 innings. Therefore, in the semi-final, when Polychronopoulos played against Kostas Papakonstantinou, he was in trouble for a while when his opponent was leading 29-13 in 13 innings. The final sprint of the later champion was strong enough to turn the score into a win 40-34 in 21 innings.

Kostas Kokkoris won the other semi-final against Kostas Mayranganis 40-28 in 35 innings.

Nikos Polychronopoulos lost only one match in the preliminary round: 40-39 in 26 innings against Mayranganis. Polychronopoulos' yielded an average of 3.333 in his best match. His highest tournament run was 15.

Nikos Polychronopoulos and Kostas Kokkoris will play for Greece in the next World team championship.

Filippos Kasidokostas played this weekend in the European Cup for Andernos and also did not participate in the first tournament for the Greek championship.
