Patrick Niessen on the top of his leven with a run of 173 in 71/2.

The roles were reversed for Philippe Deraes this evening in his balkline 71/2 match against against Patrick Niessen. The reigning champion in the free game made a run of 171 this afternoon in this discipline and beat Peter de Backer in four innings. It was by far the best match in this discipline until now and the highest run.

Tonight Deraes was defeated with his own weapons and roughly put on his place. Patrick Niessen, not on his best until now in the championships, dominated the match from the start to the end and forced Deraes on his chair. The ace of the afternoon was given a good beating.

Niessen showed his masterclass in a final run of 173, played with an incredible precision. He improved the biggest run of Deraes, but also played a better match than Deraes in the afternoon. He only required three innings for 250 points. Deraes collected only fifteen caroms.
