HURGHADA - The World Cup adventure of Peter De Backer came to a quick end in Hurghada. On Egyptian soil, where the Belgian could shine in his better days, he was knocked down in the first round on Sunday. The young German Tobias Bouerdick defeated the player who should survive some days with a minimal score. In the equalizer, at 30-23, De Backer scored six times and then missed his last: 30-29 in 21 innings. The first interesting groups are coming up: Jacob Haack Sörensen plays in the group with Gülsen Degener, Bernard Baudoin with Antonio Montes and Herbert Szivacz and Tobias Bouerdick with Ronny Brants and Radek Novak.

The German Ludwig Setz (0 points, 0.155) and Polish player Dawid Tonojan (0 points, 0.163) closed the day as the numbers last of the 48 starters.
